Samuel Claude "Sam" Meadows, 72, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born February 5, 1947 to Eugene and Willie Mae Meadows in rural Beauragard Parish in Merryville, LA. It was also his mother's birthday and she always told him he was "the best birthday present she ever received." He left this world to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Employment brought him to Jackson, but he remained a loyal fan of the LSU Tigers. He also enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mae Imogene, Kent Meadows, Bob Meadows and Jean Marlene Archer.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lana Meadows; three daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Myers, Torrie (Steve) Pierce, Summer (Harvey) Martin; 11 grandchildren, Shelby Ann Myers, Sheyenne Myers, Colby Myers, Makenna Pierce, Karsen Pierce, Sierra Myers, Dawson Martin, Kaden Pierce, Dayton Martin, Rayla Pierce, Dakota Martin and brother, Curtis Meadows.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Jackson with the Dr. Ben Stubblefield officiating and Rev. Brian Jemison providing music. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Donal Dunagan, Tripp Winters, Dane Daughtery, Al Graddy and Mike Cartee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Colby Myers, Dawson Martin, Kaden Pierce, Dayton Martin, Dakota Martin, Troy Spence and Bubba Rikard.
