Rubye G. Andrews, 83, of Grove Hill, passed away August 1, 2018 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born June 14, 1935 to Hobson Percy Gates, Sr. and Levonia Hicks Gates. A member of Grove Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the serving committee, she also served the citizens of Clarke County as a county commissioner for 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Andrews; daughter, Kathy Lynn Powell and siblings, HP Gates, Jr., Thomas George Gates and Louise Lowery.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachael (Don) Anderson; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Kelley, Heath (Jessica) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Hunter (Raegan) Kelley, Brycn Kelley, Cooper Kelley, Brantley Anderson, Sadie Harper Anderson; great, great-grandchild, Henley Kelley and sister, Lola Reid, Betty Bradford, Evelyn Green and Johnnie Dungan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Grove Hill with the Rev. Tony Meinhardt officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Kelley, Brycn Kelley, Brantley Anderson, Jimmy Gates, Mike Gates and Adam Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clarke County Commissioners, Rhondel Rhone (district 5), Stan Hutto (district 1), Tyrone Moye (district 4), Jackie Ray Rush (district 2) and Bill Taylor (district 3).
