Dorothy Boone Outlaw, age 87, died Sunday, September 2, 2018. Dorothy was born June 13, 1931 to the late Wyatt and Inez O. Boone. She traveled to New York to study ballet before coming to Jackson to open her own ballet studio. She also worked for the family business, Boone Hardware as well as working as Executive Secretary of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. Her hobbies included playing bridge and other family games such as dominos, watching old movies, traveling and she especially enjoyed cooking. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Ramona Outlaw Childers; and sister, Frances Davidson.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Dan Outlaw of Jackson; children, Dee Outlaw (Joni) of Livingston, Darryl Outlaw (Mary) of Birmingham, Dale Outlaw (Ouida) of Ozark, and Barry Outlaw (Mary Alyce) of Andalusia; grandchildren, Shawn Hodge (Craig), Jess Taylor (Casey), D. J. Outlaw, Matt Outlaw (Francie), Sarah Outlaw, Michael Outlaw, Daniel Outlaw (Brittany), Wyatt Outlaw, Austin Outlaw, and Josie Outlaw; great grandchildren, Zackary Hodge, Jacob Hodge, Simon Hodge, Lily Jane Williams, Porter Williams, Boone Outlaw, Sarah Frances Outlaw, Mills Outlaw and two more on the way; siblings, Lamar “Bubba” Boone (Dottie) of Catlett, VA and Betsy Boone Walker (Doug) of Jackson; brother-in-law, Jimmy Davidson of Thomasville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:30 until 11:30 with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 with Rev. Dr. Danielle May and Rev. Jim DuFriend officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.lathanfuneralhome.com.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Outlaw, Wyatt Outlaw, Austin Outlaw, D. J. Outlaw, Matt Outlaw, Michael Outlaw, Zackary Hodge, Jacob Hodge, and Simon Hodge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Farrish, Mike Outlaw, Maurie Outlaw, Drew Outlaw, Anja Outlaw, Christy Outlaw, Steve Walker, David Walker, Cindy Howell, and Susie Nugent.
