Adair Griffin

Adair Griffin entered into her eternal life on January 12, 2023.

Adair was born on November 4, 1929 in Vicksburg, MS.  Her parents were the late Ruth G. O’Steen and Charles E. O’Steen.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Billy B. Griffin and her brother Herbert E. O’Steen.

She graduated from Meridian High School and attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, MS.  In 1947 she married Billy B. Griffin, and they began their life and family together in Newton, MS.

In 1961 the family moved to Jackson, Al where she resided for 50 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and served as the church secretary for 30 years. In 2012 she moved to Columbus, GA to be near family.

She loved being with her children and grandchildren and her church family. She enjoyed her bridge groups and china painting.

She is survived by her son Wm. Herbert Griffin (Christine), her daughter Gay G. Sheldon (Allen), her son Allan M. Griffin (Rosemarie), her grandchildren Melanie S. Maddox, Weston A. Sheldon, Emily A. Sheldon, Sarah G. Harmer, Aimee G. Gill, and Andrew C. Griffin and 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Jackson, AL with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am
