Andrea Wiik Hinton, 75, of Chatom passed away at her residence on Friday, September 1, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born November 11, 1947, to Andrew Monsen and Julianne Selman Wiik. Andrea was raised in the city of Mobile, but she loved animals, and she was thrilled to fall in love with and marry a farm boy. She was married to Sidney Wayne Hinton for 50 wonderful years. Andrea was a member of Chatom Baptist Church, Chatom Woman's Club and Alabama Education Association (AEA). She was an elementary school teacher for 22 years, and her legacy as an educator has lasted long beyond those years. She loved children. Andrea had many hobbies including reading, china painting, and flower gardening. She loved all animals. She especially enjoyed riding horses and going to the beach. Mostly, Andrea enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was kind and gracious, known by all for her calm demeanor and sweet spirit.
Andrea is survived by her children, Andrew James Hinton (Courtney), Justin Wayne Hinton and Julianne Evelyn Massey (Clay); grandchildren, Bryce Hinton, Reed Hinton, Sydney Kate Massey and Andrew Massey; siblings, Billy Wiik (Gayla), Susan Wiik Trent, David Wiik and Carol Wiik Goodman (Robert); in-laws Patsy Hinton Fincher (John) and James "Hooney" Hinton (Joyce); and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Sidney Wayne Hinton.
Funeral Service will be conducted at Chatom Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Robert Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow in Chatom Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Trent, Julian Wiik, Dan Goodman, Brady O'Neal, John Hinton, and Rodney Hinton.
