Obituary

It is with both sadness and profound celebration that we announce the passing of Anna Watson Beverly, who left this world peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on July 19, 1936, Anna lived a life rich with love, learning, and service to her community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A proud graduate of Jackson High School's class of 1954, where she was honored as homecoming queen, Anna continued her academic journey at the University of Alabama, earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Together with her beloved husband, Joe, she exemplified the essence of partnership, taking turns furthering their education while simultaneously nurturing their growing family.

Anna was not only a dedicated librarian at the local high school, but she also played a crucial role in enhancing education in Clarke County. Her efforts in writing a grant to bring internet service and computers to local schools opened doors for countless children, ensuring they had every opportunity for academic success. A lifelong learner herself, Anna was a passionate advocate for education, and her passion for books and reading will forever resonate in the hearts of those she inspired.

Anna's vibrant spirit extended beyond her professional life. She cherished her role within the Gainestown United Methodist Church. Her love for children was evidenced through her time spent babysitting and caring for generations of her family members, her family truly meant the world to her. Tiny but mighty, Anna gracefully balanced diplomacy with steadfastness, standing firm for her beliefs while demonstrating kindness and generosity to those in need.

Anna's love of shopping for bargains and her adventurous spirit for travel and genealogy exploration will forever inspire us all. Though she is no longer with us, her enduring quest for knowledge and the joy she found in life will continue to resonate within this community and beyond.

Anna was greeted in heaven by her beloved husband of 70 years, Joseph "Joe" Beverly; siblings, Permelia "Pam" Watson McKnight, Agnes Watson Sellers, Frank Watson, and Wilford Cameron Watson; father, Willie Frank Watson; mother, Ruby Anna Nabb Watson; cherished grandmother, Leila Whitehead "Ma" Nabb; and loving son-in-law, Werner Tarleton.

Surviving to cherish Anna's memory and carry on her legacy are her children, Joseph Robinson "Robin" Beverly, Jr (Stephanie) and Cameron Elizabeth Tarleton; grandchildren, Christy Dawn Beverly, Kristopher Neal Beverly, Jason Michael Moore (Jennie Rae), Chelsea Beverly Moorer, Marie Jessica Morgan, Anthony Webster, and Leila Tarleton Nichols (Bo); great grandchildren, Carolyn, Molly, Roman (Lexi) Mackenzie, Nathan, Jack (John Watson), Corbin, Victoria, Justice, Mary Bo, Rex, Josie, and Joseph; three adored great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
