Bernice Feagin

Bernice "Bunny" Payne Feagin, 103, of Grove Hill, passed away May 12, 2019 at her residence. She was born August 29, 1915 to Rhett Goode Payne, Sr. and Eva McDonald Payne. A retired social worker with the Alabama Department of Human Resources, she was also a decades-long member of Grove Hill United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities, including Sunday School teacher and chairman of the administrative board. She also served as treasurer of the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital board and on the hospital auxiliary. A lover of life, she enjoyed numerous hobbies that included travel, cooking, needle point, quilting, riding her golf cart around town and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aubrey Chapman Feagin and siblings, Rhett Payne, Jr., Travis Payne, Mary Mayton and Mildred Payne.

She is survived by her children, Donald (Debbie) Feagin, Mary Lynn (John C., Jr. "Sparky") Wilson; grandchildren, Kelley Feagin, Geoff Feagin, Kristen (John) Pocrnich, Loren (Eddie) Jenkins, John Chapman (Emily) Wilson, Emily (Matt) Gilmore; great-grandchildren, Zoey Pocrnich. Sealy Kate Wilson, John Chapman Wilson, II, Ellis Gilmore, Gunner Gilmore and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Grove Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Rhett Payne, III., Revs. Debbie Feagin and Chris Walker officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Grove Hill Town Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Geoff Feagin, John Wilson, Eddie Jenkins, Bill Payne, Bruce Wilson and Matt Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Grove Hill United Methodist Church.
