Bobby C. Moore, Sr., 80, of Whatley, passed away November 13, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 25, 1938 to John Aubrey Moore and Willodean Smith Moore in Walker Springs. He enjoyed a 20-year career with the Clarke County Sheriff's Office, the last four as sheriff. Prior to his law enforcement career, he served 34 years in the U.S. Army, including active combat zones where he earned numerous medals and commendations. He was also a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Barnell Moore, Terry Moore, Morris Moore, Jerry Moore and Wayne Moore.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathy G. Moore; children, Sharon (Robert) McGwier, Betty Wiggins, Susan (Steve) Henderson, Bobby (Suzanne) Moore, Jr., Alvin (Susan) Moore, Heath (LaShae) Moore; brother, Don (Nancy) Moore; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Rev. Leon Harrison officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill from 5-8 p.m. and will continue at 10 a.m. on Friday until the service. Interment, including military honors, will be at Amity Baptist Cemetery in Whatley with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
The Clarke County Sheriff's Office will provide active pallbearers. All area law enforcement will be honorary pallbearers.
