Brenda Downey

Brenda Diane Downey, 65, of Deer Park, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile. She was born in Danville, Virginia on July 16, 1955. A faithful member of Citronelle United Methodist Church, she was devoted to her daughter, Elizabeth. Her “green thumb” was evident in the beautiful flowers she raised inside and outside her home. Her favorite pastime was crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry F. Cooley and Bennie Ruth Hartley Cooley and her beloved pet Chihuahua, “Sugarpie,” who knew her as “NanNan.”

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Elizabeth Downey; siblings, Calvin Daniel (Marie) Cooley, Lisa Felp, Sheena (Thomas) Harris and uncle, Raleigh Montgomery.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Deer Park Cemetery with Bros. Dino Danzey and John Daszczuk officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Beech, Tony Cochran, William Davis, Dale Downey, James Overstreet and Joseph Overstreet.
