Cecil Moss

January 26, 1965 — November 7, 2025

Cecil Richard Moss, 60, of Chatom, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2025. He was born on January 26, 1965, to Cecil and Mary Moss, who raised him with strong values, love, and faith that he carried throughout his life.

Richard was a proud graduate of Washington County High School and spent many dedicated years working at Wiggins Incorporated. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dependability and strong work ethic.

The greatest blessing in Richard's life was his wife, Dolly, of 41 years. She was the love of his life, his partner in everything, and his most important person. Together they shared a beautiful life built on love, laughter, and family.

Richard was a man with a heart of gold, someone who always put others before himself. He loved unconditionally and was always there to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstance. He worked hard to provide for his family and never asked for anything in return.

One of Richard's greatest joys was being a grandfather. He loved his grandchildren deeply and took every opportunity to spend time with them, whether it was sharing stories, teaching them something new, or just enjoying their laughter. They brought endless happiness and pride to his life.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed the things that brought him peace and joy, watching westerns, hunting, fishing, spending time in the yard, and tinkering on his tractor. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, his gentle nature, and the way he made everyone feel like family.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Edgar and Iola Moss, Carlie and Dora May Dixon; and grandson, Jayden James Moss.

Richard is survived by his parents; his wife, Carla "Dolly" Moss; son, Josh Moss (Brittany); daughter, Michelle Price (Clifton); grandchildren, Natheniel (Katelyn) Price, Alexys Price, J.T. Moss, Carson McLain, Lillian Moss, Greyson Moss; great- grandson, Lathan Price; brothers, Randell (Amy) Moss and Robert Moss; sister, Romona(Johnny) McKinzie; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Ron Welborn, Jason Kittrell, Carson McLain, J.T. Moss, Jesse Taylor, and Jimmy Thorton.

Honorary Pallbearers are Josh Moss and Clifton Price.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, Alabama. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Springbank Baptist Cemetery, with Bro. Bob Younge officiating.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who loved him, but his kindness, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
