Charles Edward "Ed" Taylor, 60, of Chatom, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Chatom on Monday, May 15, 1961, to Alton Taylor and Lillie Mae Powell Taylor, both of whom preceded him in death. He had been employed as a dredge boat captain and was active in his family's seafood business. A gifted guitarist, he frequently performed with local bands at charity events, especially the VFW in Citronelle. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Springbank Baptist Church in Chatom.
He is survived by his daughter, Britney Taylor; grandchildren, David Butler, Rose Laughley; wife, Ann Taylor; siblings, Albert Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Lorraine (Jay) Scurry and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Reve. Neal Taylor officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Taylor Family Cemetery in Chatom with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Mike Craylor, Stephen Taylor, Jacob Williams, Jason Williams, Jon Jon Williams and Paul Williams.
Julius Hoffman will be an honorary pallbearer.
