Christopher Mcvay

Christopher Ryan “Bubba Mac” McVay, 43, of Grove Hill, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. He was born in Grove Hill on March 7, 1977 to Royce and Alice McVay. A 23-year veteran of the Grove Hill Fire and Rescue Department, he earned the rank of captain. He was also a very active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Fulton where he “wore many hats,” including serving as a greeter/usher and on the cemetery committee. He was meticulous in his care of his home and lawn and his automobiles. He enjoyed duck hunting and spending time with his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Royce McVay; brother, Craig McVay and grandparents, Curtis and Gladys Pope and John and Ada McVay.

He is survived by his mother Alice (Pat) McVay-Kelly; stepbrother, Patrick Kelly; cousin, Joann (Pete) Lankford and friends who have been closer than family, Dennis, Wanda, and Chloe Drinkard and William and Whitney Faircloth and their children, Sadie and Liam.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Fulton with the Revs. William Faircloth, III and Mike Bedsole officiating. The eulogy will be given by Dennis Drinkard. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Grove Hill Town Cemetery in the Mathews addition immediately following the service.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Baugh, Bobby Wayne Brooks, Dennis Drinkard, Rusty Gates, Jay Harris, Michael Nelson, Josh Robison, Cody Stinson, Tanner Williams, Taylor Williams and Chris Welch.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grove Hill Fire and Rescue Department

Flowers arrangements are welcome or donations in his memory may be made to Liberty Baptist Church’s “Moving Forward Fund.”

It is requested that those who attend the services wear a mask and observe an appropriate social distance.
