Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Boykin, 74, of Northport, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Heritage Health Care and Rehab in Tuscaloosa. She was born on Saturday, July 12, 1947, in Birmingham to William Andrew Millsap, Jr. and Margaret Israel Millsap, both of whom preceded her in death. She had been a longtime educator with the Clarke County Board of Education, beginning as a classroom teacher and retiring as a principal at Jackson Intermediate School. She was a founding organizer of CCARC in Jackson and served on numerous SACS committees helping schools across the region to achieve or maintain accreditation. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, but she was very proud of her role with the choir at Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham as a teen. She was also a member of numerous education and professional societies. A huge fan of the University of Alabama football program, she also enjoyed extensive travel with her husband, gardening, cooking, entertaining and spending time with her beloved family.
She is survived by her husband, Edward "Buddy" Boykin; children, Andy (Glisa) Boykin, Jennifer (Chris) Eriksen; grandchildren, Mary Helen Boykin, Andrew Boykin, Matthew Eriksen, Billy Eriksen, Jonathan Eriksen and sister, Jane Millsap.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson with Andy Boykin and Revs. Taylor Morgan and Neil Reynolds officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the service begins. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Chet Bounds, Chris Bounds, Andrew Boykin, Billy Eriksen, Jonathan Eriksen, Matthew Eriksen and Bo Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Atchison, Bobby Bounds, Chris Carr, Fred Huggins, Mark Lyons, Sam Roberts, Walt Rotch, Gray Skipper and Michael Whitehead, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CCARC, 814 Oak Street, Jackson, AL 36545.
