Deborah Jane Dees, a beloved mother, devoted friend, and cherished member of the Jackson community, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 22, 1950, to her parents Johnnie Prewett and Nellie Marie Findley Prewett.

 Jane lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering appreciation for the simple joys that life had to offer. A proud graduate of Clarke County High School, Class of 1968, Jane carried her Alabama roots with pride. Her heart belonged to her family, and she found immense joy in spending time with her girls and their families. Jane's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone around her, and she was known for her infectious spirit and ability to bring people together.

 For 28 years, she dedicated her talents to the restaurant industry, proudly serving her community at Western Sizzlin / Jackson Steak House. After retirement, she continued to share her compassionate nature by working as a private sitter, offering care and comfort to those in need. A passionate Alabama Crimson Tide fan, she found joy in cheering on her team, celebrating the victories, and sharing the spirit of camaraderie with fellow fans. 

Jane was a member of Fulton Baptist Church, where she found solace, community, and connection. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, illuminating the path she walked with grace and kindness.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Sallie Ann Tallent.

She is survived by her daughters Fleaka (Eric) Walker, Rachel (Steve) McIntyre, Tracy Leon (Earl Humbarger), Almost son Todd Dearman; grandchildren Christopher Etheridge, Marcus Etheridge, Justin Etheridge, Adam Etheridge, Dillion McIntyre, Donovan McIntyre, Cameron Leon, Great Grandchildren Gabby, Maddox, C.J. Etheridge, Leavie Rose McIntyre, Austin & Alexis Etheridge, and two special grands Everett and William “Red” Dearman.

 Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jane’s life at her funeral service, which will take place on August 12, 2026, at Lathan Funeral Home. The public visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, allowing loved ones to gather and share heartfelt memories before the service at 12:00 PM. Following the service, a graveside ceremony will be held at Bassett Creek Baptist Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the embrace of nature. Deborah Jane Dees will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her spirit, her passion for life, and the unwavering love she shared with those around her. May her legacy of kindness continue to inspire us all.
