Donald Wayne Phillips

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Wayne "Don" Phillips, who left us on April 3, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on January 19, 1955, Don spent most of his life in Grove Hill, AL, surrounded by family and friends who loved him.

Don dedicated 44 years of his life to working at International Paper in Pine Hill, where he was a respected and valued mill worker. He was a proud member of the Union Grove Baptist Church in Dixon Mills and shared his faith and kindness with everyone around him.

To say that Don adored his family would be an understatement. He loved them immensely and was always there to lend a helping hand or share a hearty laugh. He had a passion for fishing, photography, and woodworking, and often spent his free time in his workshop where he honed his craft on the wood lathe. Donald had a special talent for creating beautiful pens, which he joyfully gifted to friends, loved ones, and anyone who stopped by to visit and brightened his day.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Rita Phillips, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his cherished son, Patrick Phillips (April); treasured grandson, Reid Phillips; dear siblings, Bruce Phillips (Glenda), Linda Matthews, and Marie Norris; special pet, Choco; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, AJ & Jewel Phillips; brother, Tommy Phillips; and precious pet, Junior.

A graveside service will be held to honor Don's life at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Bro. Bill Flynn officiating. We invite family, friends, and all who knew Don to join us in celebrating his life and the love he shared with everyone he met.
