Donny Rowell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donny Rayford Rowell Sr, who left us peacefully due to natural causes on September 28, 2025. Born on February 25, 1955, Donny was a true lover of music, with Elvis Presley reigning as his all-time favorite artist.

As a mechanic, Donny made his mark in the automotive industry by owning and operating Rowell's Automotive for many years. His passion for race cars and racing gave him joy, but it was strumming his guitar and spending time with his beloved dogs that brought him the greatest happiness.

Donny was an avid outdoorsman; spending many days (and more than a few nights) in the wilderness hunting and enjoying the peace of the great outdoors.

Donny is preceded in death by parents, Ada Salter Pugh Rowell and Rayford Rowell; and siblings, Bernard Pugh, Jimmy Pugh, Cecil Bernard Pugh, and Louise Breckenridge.

Donny is survived by his cherished children, Donny Rowell Jr. and Jasmine Rowell; grandchildren, Rebecca, Kennedi, Emery, Evie, Onyxx, and Cash; sister, Marilyn Pugh Walley; and beloved dogs, Susie & Little Pertty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends, who will carry on Donny's vibrant spirit and love for life.

Funeral services will be held on October 1, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home, Grove Hill, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Donny's extraordinary life. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral begins at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Bill Flynn and Mike Larrimore officiating.

Pallbearers will be Randall Black, Mike Larrimore, Jimmy Moore, Caleb Morgan, Wesley Blankenship, and Rufus Grayson.

Donny will be laid to rest in Choctaw Corner Cemetery, a fitting farewell for a man who filled his world with music, laughter, and love. His legacy will live on in the melodies he strummed and the memories he created with all who knew him. Rest in peace, Donny; you will be missed.
