Doris
Hoven
Mar 24, 1941 — Sep 6, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Hoven, who left us on September 6, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on March 24, 1941, to her parents Ed Wilson and Clyde Pettis Wilson, Doris lived a life rich in love, laughter, and the simple joys that her family and friends will forever cherish.
Doris was a remarkable woman who found beauty in the everyday. She took pride in her appearance and delighted in getting her hair done every Thursday and being home in time to watch her soap operas and then go back to town to the grocery store. Each Saturday, she woke up early to prepare a full breakfast, famously cooking her beloved Cathead biscuits that brought warmth to the family table.
Her passion for gardening was evident in her meticulously tended yard, where she often spent sunny afternoons tending her plants-a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Doris loved to can the fruits and vegetables of her labor, sharing her bounty with friends and family. Her kitchen was a warm haven, filled with the sounds of music that she cherished as much as the laughter around her.
Doris's companionship with her dog, Sassy, was a testament to her kind heart. She loved Sassy dearly, and the two brought each other joy and comfort in everyday moments.
As we remember Doris, we take solace in the countless memories we created with her, from grocery store outings to joyful garden hours. Her spirit of love, kindness, and resilience will forever live on in our hearts.
Doris is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace Hoven; brothers Graham Wilson and Jimmy Wilson and sister Bernice Armstead.
She is survived by her children Mashelia (Randy) Johnson, Darrell (Amanda) Hoven, and Michael (Chrystal) Lewis; grandchildren Krystal (Glen) Weaver, Zachary Hoven, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Chapel Church on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Renea Henderson officiating and Lathan Funeral home directing. Visitation being one hour before the service begins.
Pallbearers are Brit Wilson, Ikee Koen, Zack Hoven, Zach Atchison, Brody Lewis, and Draper Washington.
Rest in peace, dear Doris. You will be missed beyond measure.
