Dorothy Erzen

February 8, 1933 — November 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Huggins Erzen, who departed this life on November 24, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on February 8, 1933, Dorothy was a cherished member of her community and a beloved mother, leaving behind two loving and devoted daughters, two beloved sons-in-law, four wonderful grandchildren, one precious great grandchild, and many other dear relatives including several nieces and nephews, some of whom became as dear to her as her daughters. Dorothy was amazed to have lived long enough to see the birth of a great grandchild!

Dorothy was a remarkable homemaker, whose passion for cooking earned her recognition in the Clarke County Democrat. Her talent in the kitchen was matched only by her generous spirit, as she delighted in growing her own vegetables not only for her family but also to share with neighbors and friends. Dorothy's culinary creations brought joy and nourishment to all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them.

An avid reader and an enthralling storyteller, Dorothy had a gift for captivating her audience with vivid details and anecdotes from her life. One of her favorite tales to share was the story of her courtship with her beloved husband, John Erzen Jr., who was not only her soul mate but also the guiding force that helped her connect with others in meaningful ways. Dorothy had an infectious laugh that filled the hearts of those around her, making every gathering richer with joy and warmth.

In honoring her memory, we invite all who knew and loved Dorothy to join us for her funeral services on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate her life and the remarkable impact she had on those she touched. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. Warren Huggins officiating.

In this time of reflection and remembrance, we encourage all to embrace the laughter and love that Dorothy embodied. May her spirit continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of family, community, and the simple joys of life.
