Edmond Chastain

Edmond Harold Chastain, 85, of Jackson, passed away Monday, September 20, 2020 at Jackson Health Care Facility. He was born in Jackson on February 26, 1935 to Henry Chastain and Lucille Joiner Chastain. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was employed as an electrician for more than 20 years at Boise Cascade in Jackson. He was also a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Flossie Wheat Chastain and daughter, Tracy Gartman.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Robyn) Chastain, Tara (Shay) Smith; grandchildren, Rebekah Richard, Neileigh (Tyler) Westbrook, Laura Chastain; sisters, Wanda Bowerman, Faye Harrison, Roxie Davis and dearest companion, Dorothy Atchison.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery at Chastain Hill with the Rev. John David Stewart officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Larry Aspinwall, Chess Bowerman, Brian Few, Shawn Harrison, John Kinman and Scott Shaw.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation of Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagarstown, MD 21741-5014.
