Edna Robinson Stewart, 81, died May 27th at Jackson Medical Center. A native of Jackson, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mable Robinson.
Edna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Known to her friends and family as "Egg", she was a member of the Jackson Woman's Club for approximately 50 years. She served in several capacities of the club and most recently chaired the awards day that was hosted in May. Edna was a longtime member of the Four Seasons Garden Club that was formerly active in Jackson.
Edna loved flowers and it was evident in everything she did. She was known for her beautiful floral creations and was often requested to create bouquets for weddings, anniversaries, funerals, and special events. She worked many years at Floral Creations and several other floral shops at the same location.
Edna's favorite pastime was sitting on her deck or patio watching the birds and caring for her many potted plants and flowers. She usually had a favorite book in her hand, passing the time and enjoying the outdoors. She also enjoyed playing bridge. In the early mornings you would see her walking daily in the hills of High Acres where she lived. She said it was good for her health and it made for good relaxation. In her younger days, she played tennis at Pearce Memorial Park. One of her favorite tennis partners was the late Betty Bowling.
She looked forward to seeing five of her Jackson High School classmates, known as the "Jackson Five", as they met yearly for a time of reminiscing and fun.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roe Stewart; daughter, Chrissy Stewart Wheless; and two brothers, Howard Robinson, Jr. and Bill Robinson.
