Edward Clingman
Boykin
Feb 21, 1946 — Jul 31, 2026
Edward Clingman Boykin III, affectionately known to family and friends as Buddy, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at the age of 80.
Buddy was born on February 21, 1946. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1964 and began his career with Allied Paper Company in 1965. Through the years, he was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and quiet dedication.
Above all else, Buddy loved his family. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely, and they were the greatest source of pride and joy in his life. His unwavering love, support, and devotion to them will remain one of the greatest gifts he leaves behind.
Buddy found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Tide. He had a special love for dogs, who always seemed to bring a smile to his face, and he never turned down a good meal featuring his favorite Conecuh sausage.
In 2019, Buddy was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He faced his illness with courage and determination, showing the same strength and resilience that had defined his life.
Buddy will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family and friends, and the countless memories he created with those who knew him. His kindness, sense of humor, and appreciation for the simple things in life will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Clingman Boykin, Jr and Louise Smith Boykin; and his wife, Cynthia Boykin.
Buddy is survived by his son, Andy (Glisa) Boykin; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Eriksen; grandchildren, Mary Helen Boykin, Andrew (Lily) Boykin, Matthew Eriksen, Billy Eriksen, and Jonathan Eriksen; sister, Sandy (Buddy) Nelson; sister-in-law, Jane Millsap; and cousin, Bobby Bounds (more like a brother).
