Elaine James McIntyre, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on April 25, 1945, Elaine was a lifelong resident of Jackson, AL, where she dedicated her heart and soul to her family, friends, and the children she cared for throughout her life.

Elaine found her soulmate in her loving husband, Kennith McIntyre. Their bond was a testament to unwavering love and partnership. She was "mom to four" and "Mim to all," a title she wore proudly as she opened her heart and home to countless children over the years. For 40 years, Elaine owned and operated a daycare, where her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on the lives of her little ones. Many of her daycare children and church members became as much family to her as her own kin.

A dedicated member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Elaine was actively involved in the Cornerstone Sunday School Class, where she was known for her quick wit and insightful perspectives. Although she was usually reserved, Elaine was never shy to stand up for what she believed to be right-an embodiment of strength and honor. Her frugality and enjoyment of life were reflected in her love for flea markets and thrift stores, where she often found little treasures to bring joy to her family.

Elaine had a passion for photography, typically behind the camera, capturing precious moments with her family. She loved gathering everyone for cookouts and holidays, where laughter and love filled the air-a true celebration of family.

Elaine leaves behind a host of loved ones to cherish her memory: her beloved husband of 59 years, Kennith McIntyre; cherished children, Ken McIntyre (Jeanell), Kyle McIntyre (Myra), Mylessia O'Laire (Jason), and Michelle McIntyre; treasured grandchildren, Kristina Pope (Michael), Tre' McIntyre, Ty McIntyre (Emily), Ayrel Absher (Noah), Mac McIntyre (Caitlyn), Buddy Bivin, and Skylar McIntyre; 14 darling great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Harrison (Benny); brothers, Joe James (Winnie) and Tim James; brother-in-law, Carl Bumpers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

She was greeted in heaven by her father, Albert Earl James Sr.; mother, Tossie Dungan James; brother, Johnny James; and sister, Beth Bumpers.

The family will hold funeral services at Forest Avenue Baptist Church on August 10, 2026. A public visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Bro. Ed Howard and Bro. David Webb officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Tre' McIntrye, Ty McIntyre, Mac McIntyre, Michael Pope, Daniel Mairet, Noah Absher, David Overton, and Darrell Beasley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Forest Avenue Cornerstone Sunday School Class.

Elaine James McIntyre will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. In her quiet strength and steadfast love, she has left a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
