Emily Hodge

Emily Counselman Hodge, 56, of Coffeeville passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side. Emily was born in Auburn, Alabama on December 2, 1966, to parents Jimmy and Elizabeth Terry Counselman. She was a graduate of Grove Hill Academy class of 1984. After graduating from The University of South Alabama with her bachelor's and master's degrees, she returned to Coffeeville and started her teaching career at Coffeeville High school and later Jackson High School. Emily enjoyed life, she liked the outdoors, going to the beach, her flower gardens, and bird watching. She was an avid fan of all Auburn athletics. Emily was a member of Coffeeville Baptist Church. Most importantly she loved her family and cherished every moment with them.

Survived by her husband Timothy Hodge, daughters Victoria Eden (John) Day, and Virginia Elizabeth Hodge, parents Jimmy and Elizabeth Counselman, sister Barbara Ellen (Benjamin) Harper, nephew Martin Vann Wilson and niece Vivian Ellen Wilson, also other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Vann Wilson, Lee Shields, Jackson Lawrence, Jack Hodge, Tucker Hodge, TR Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Lawrence, Sammy Shields, Charles Craft, Roy Schell, Stacy Dunagan, Jerry James, and Marlon Beech.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Emily's memory to the American Lung Association at action.lung.org, or the Coffeeville Cemetery Fund 276 Miller Howze Rd. Coffeeville, AL 36524.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville with visitation one hour prior to services. Officiating the services will be Brent Fuller and Linda Fos with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at the Coffeeville Town Cemetery.
