Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric B. Davis, who departed this life on June 28, 2026, at the age of 60. Eric was born on September 30, 1965, and resided in Jackson, where he nurtured deep roots in both his community and his family.

Eric was a dedicated member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, where he had attended for the majority of his life, finding strength and fellowship in his faith. He devoted nearly 40 years of his career to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), where he served as a District Administrator, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Known affectionately to his family as "Mr. Fix-it," Eric was a master tinkerer with a passion for working on cars and any machinery that needed repair. He had an eye for finding broken items, often bringing them home or to his brother-in-law, Benny Turberville's workshop, where they would restore them to working order. Beyond just projects, Benny was his best friend, and their bond was that of true brothers, as they spent countless afternoons and weekends tackling various ventures together.

Eric was deeply devoted to his family, taking immense pride in providing for and supporting them in every way possible. He cherished his time with his beloved grandchildren, whether it was watching Miranda play softball, cheering on Eli in his baseball games, or enjoying special moments of relaxation with Harlee and her favorite ice cream. He shared a thrilling joy for adventure with Miranda as they rode roller coasters together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

He will be remembered not just for his talents and skills, but for his infectious sense of humor and his booming laugh that could light up any room, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Eric was greeted in heaven by his parents, Ed and Narvis Davis and his father-in-law, Gene Whisenhunt.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 40 years, Gina W. Davis; children, Tiffany Goldman (Lee) and William Blount Davis; grandchildren, Miranda Goldman, Eli Goldman, and Harlee Goldman; siblings, Cynthia Turberville (Benny), Jimmy Davis (Susan), and Mark Davis (Karen); mother-in-law, Nancy Whisenhunt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

A public visitation will be held at Stave Creek Baptist Church on July 2, 2026, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Eric will be laid to rest at Trinity Memorial Gardens, immediately following the service.

In this time of sorrow, we invite friends and family to gather together to celebrate the life of Eric B. Davis, whose spirit will continue to live on in our memories and hearts forever.
