Florence Mcvay

Florence S. McVay, 86, of Lowndesboro, passed away July 25, 2018 at Orchard Healthcare Facility in Hayneville. She was born September 2, 1931 to Mitchell Chapman McVay and Kate LouE Bowling McVay in Washington County. A retired school teacher with the Escambia County, FL school system, she enjoyed spending her summers traveling with her many friends. She was also an accomplished needlepoint artist. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Pensacola but had been attending the Lowndesboro Methodist Church since moving to Lowndesboro.
She is survived by her sister Jean M. (Caswell) McCurdy; nephews, Garrett (Rachel) McCurdy, Cas (Dale) McCurdy, Jr. and great nieces and nephews, Frazer McCurdy, Matthew (Laken) McCurdy, Mallory McCurdy, Laura Jean McCurdy and Mason McCurdy.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Bowling Family Cemetery in Leroy with the Rev. Sherod E. Mallow officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
