George Shipp

George E. Shipp, 86, passed away May 14, 2025. A native of Wagarville, George was born June 29, 1938 to Ernie and Esther Shipp; he resided in Semmes for the past 55 years. George was known for his happy go lucky attitude, his generosity, and for helping his fellow man. He loved his children and adored his grandchildren. Whether taking them on fishing trips or road trips to Yellowstone, George thrived on making good memories with them all.

George is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Helen Murphy Shipp. Born the youngest of 8 sons to Mr. Ernie and Mrs. Esther Shipp, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jasper Shipp, James M Shipp, William "Bill" Shipp, Huey Long Shipp, Ernest Eugene Shipp, Jr., John M Shipp, and Darwin Eugene "Pete" Shipp.

Mr. Shipp leaves behind to cherish his memories three children, Charlotte Kramer (Mark) of Daphne, Susan Wilson of Semmes and Charlie Shipp of Semmes; eight grandchildren, Amanda Kramer, Jillian Kramer (Jim) Smith, Kali Kramer (Michael) Berry, Laura Kramer (Patrick) Flaherty, Ashley McDuffie (Chad) Skelton, Maci Wilson, Catherine Shipp and Christopher (Elizabeth) Shipp; and nine great grandchildren, Mason Skelton, Madison Skelton, Memphis Skelton, Jackson Ross, Jaci Orr, James Orr, Sonora Berry, Elliot Flaherty, and Sophie Shipp.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Ebenezer Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jennifer Gregory, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Wayne McDuffie, Chad Skelton, Mason Skelton, Jackson Ross.
