Inez Jordan
Holcombe
Jun 12, 1942 — Jul 17, 2026
With her well-read Bible laying nearby on the table, Inez Jordan fought cancer courageously and told everyone who visited her during her final battle about Jesus and salvation. In her final days on Earth, her children and grandchildren witnessed her unwavering strength once again. Surrounded by those who love her dearly, Inez Jordan of Fruitdale finished writing her story on this side of heaven on Friday, July 17, 2026. At the age of 84, she went to her Heavenly home to meet her Lord and Savior and to see her beloved mother and baby brother of whom she often talked of seeing when she made it there. She was born on June 12, 1942, to Luther and Beatrice Jordan of Tibbie, AL. Ms. Inez will be remembered for her work ethic, tenacity, and independence. She was a member of Tibbie Baptist Church and loved to tell others about the lessons from their Bible Study group, about the sermons from Bro. Woody Baughn, and the songs her dear cousin sang.
Inez was lovingly known to her family as Mom, Maw Maw Nez, Nezinator, and the Mighty "I". She has always enjoyed working hard; and she proudly provided for her family. She retired from Ciba Geigy where she met many lifelong friends. Also, Ms. Inez worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Glen Oaks Nursing Home and as a caretaker for many different families with whom she formed bonds that she fondly talked about years later. She found joy in reading, sewing, quilting, watching Westerns, and shopping at Merle Norman for skincare products. Beyond these hobbies, she found the most joy in seeing and playing with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. At the end of her life, Ms. Inez served as an example to her family, yet again, of what it means to be strong and brave, and she fought fiercely with a humble spirit. She often told her family that she was ready to meet Jesus.
Inez is preceded in death by her father, Luther Jordan and her mother, Beatrice Knapp Jordan, whom she admired and loved dearly. She is also preceded in death by 8 of her 14 siblings, Harry Jordan, Robert Lee Jordan, Dan Jordan, Elmer Jordan, Louise Jordan Crumpton, Luther Jordan, Jr. (Baby Junior), Infant Boy Jordan, and Infant Girl Jordan.
Inez is survived by her children, Winona (James) Coaker, Joseph (Jessica) Hawkes, James (Catherine) Hawkes, Tonya (Kevin) Raulerson, and Rhonda (J.P.) Presley. Ms. Inez is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 5 of her siblings-Grace Mathis, James Jordan, Calvin Jordan, Raymond Jordan, Gertrude Rankin; a host of nephews and nieces, and her dear friend, Carolyn Williams.
The family invites you to honor and celebrate the life of their mother and grandmother, Ms. Inez Jordan. Services for Ms. Inez Jordan will be held at Tibbie Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The family will receive loved ones from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Doug Price and Bro. Woody Baughn officiating. Interment will follow in Fairhope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andy Coaker, Jason Hawkes, Justin Hawkes, Joey Hawkes, Brandon Hawkes, and Mackenzie Scarbrough. Honorary pallbearers are Jullian Breland, Marty Coaker, dear friend Billy C. Beech, Gunner Coaker, Drew Coaker, Jordan Smith, Dylan Byrd, and Jackson Byrd. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate assistance with the care of their mother.
