Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Sidney "Sid" Andrews, a beloved father, friend, and passionate outdoorsman, who left us on September 3, 2026, at the age of 65. James, a lifelong resident of Jackson, was born on September 30, 1960. He dedicated his career to Boise Cascade followed by his time in the construction industry, serving as a foreman where his exceptional handyman skills, unmatched work ethic, and problem-solving abilities shone brightly.

Sid was an all-around outdoorsman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He delighted in hunting, fishing, and farming, especially tending to his cows. His love for fishing particularly brought him peace and contentment; he cherished the quiet hours spent with a line in the water. In his younger years, Sid was an avid softball player, earning the nickname "Padrea" among his teammates. He also had a fondness for classic Westerns, which he enjoyed watching in the comfort of his home while spending precious time with the young ones in his life. Family was more than blood-relations to Sid, he proudly watched over, guided, and helped anyone with a mind to let him.

Sid is preceded in death by his parents, Chester & Yvonne Andrews as well as his grandparents, Virgil & Katie Lee "Tarl" Tarleton and James Chester Sr. & Robbie Andrews.

Sid is survived by his devoted children, Chuck (Hillary) Andrews and Nikki (Shane) Sturdivant; beloved grandchildren, Gracie Andrews, Bailee Andrews, Rianna Deas, Coleman Deas, Chess Andrews, Avery Sturdivant, Lance Criswell, Jacob Criswell, Benson Pugh, and Rense Pugh; five precious great grandchildren; siblings, Terry Andrews, TBob (Melissa) Andrews, and Lisa Bowling; bonus children, Tony Criswell, Miranda Criswell, and Whitney Reed; best friend, Casey Powell; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends, each of whom will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and determination.

A memorial service will take place at Union Baptist Church on September 10, 2026, at 6:45 PM with Bro. Johnny Kendrick officiating, preceded by a public visitation at 6:00 PM. A meal of fellowship and remembrance will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate the life and accomplishments of James Sidney "Sid" Andrews, a true original who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne McIntyre, Junior Kelley, Josh Alford, Chris Johnson, Dillon Hall, Rick Andrews, Tyler Andrews, Robbie Phillips, Frankie Powell, Brian Cartee, Doug Davis, Joseph Williams, and Kerri Williams.
