James Cecil Beck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 14, 1942, Cecil spent his life in Jackson, Alabama, where he made a lasting impact on his community and cherished the relationships he built along the way.
Cecil was a dedicated member, deacon, and choir member of Peniel Baptist Church, where he shared his faith and became an integral part of the church family. He had a talent for woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces that reflected his passion and skill. Outdoor adventures brought him joy, and he often found tranquility in hunting and fishing with friends and family.
Cecil had a long and rewarding career with Clarke Washington EMC, starting as an apprentice and rising through the ranks to retire in 1999 as a crew foreman. His strong work ethic and commitment to his profession earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Ann Beck, who was his partner and best friend throughout their journey together; his sister Linda Skoda, his beloved granddaughter, Madison Marie Beck; as well as many other relatives and dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Virgie Beck; sons, LaGrande Beck and Kyle Beck; sister, Carolyn Bumpers; and special friends, Buddy Nobles and Tom Edwards.
A public visitation will be held at Peniel Baptist Church on November 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share cherished memories. Following the visitation, the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fred Odom and Rev. Gary Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, honoring Cecil's life and contributions to those around him.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Skipworth, Bobby Reeves, Les Collins, Ellis Wiggins, Carl Bumpers, and Daryl Beck. Honorary pallbearers are his former coworkers at Clarke Washington EMC.
Cecil will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering faith, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who loved him.
