James Byrd

James T. "Ducky" Byrd, 88, died Thursday, March 23, 2023. James was born August 18, 1934 to Lloyd E. Sr. and Eva Byrd. James was a member of West Bend Baptist Church where he had served as deacon. He retired from Ciba after over 30 years of loyal service. James never met a stranger and loved helping others. He often enjoyed reminiscing of his childhood.
James is survived by his children, Jerry (Jennifer) James, Renee (Neal) Bishop, James Thomas "Tommy" Byrd, Jr., and Deborah (Jay) Eubanks; grandchildren, Derek (Suzette) James, Phillip (Erica) James, Whitney Bishop, John Bishop, Lloyd Bishop, Olivia Eubanks, and Kate Eubanks; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn (Carey) Williams.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha K. Byrd.
Services will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the service begins at 2:00 pm with Rev. Warren Shewmake officiating. Interment will follow in West Bend Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Baldwin House in Malbis, AL.
