James Morgan Sr.

July 25, 1944 — November 5, 2017

James Harding Morgan, Sr., age 73, died November 5, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center. Mr. Morgan was born July 25, 1944 to the late Glover and Minnie Lou Morgan in Coffeeville, AL. He was a resident of Jackson where he worked for Boise Cascade for 46 years. Mr. Morgan was a member Forest Avenue Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved Alabama Football. He would have celebrated 50 years as a member of Masonic Lodge 226 this year.



Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Willie Earl Morgan.



He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce H. Morgan of Jackson; children, Brenda Morgan Smith (Ray), Candy Morgan Frazier (Mark), Jamie Morgan Shoultz (Michael) James Harding "J.R." Morgan, Jr. (Margaret) all of Jackson; sister Yvonne Mathers (Bruce) of Coffeeville; grandchildren, Morgan Clements, Hannah McVay, Victor Tipper, Victoria Tucker, Chipper Tucker, James Harding "Trey" Morgan, III, Ella Morgan, Cooper Shoultz, Ryan Smith, and Austin Smith; great grandchildren, Travis Clements, Maddox Tipper, Tipper Clements, and Hammond McVay.



Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson as well as from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am with Bro. Nicholas Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Victor Tipper, Chipper Tucker, James Harding "Trey" Morgan, III, Micheal Shoultz, Mark Frazier, Micheal Clements, Jimmy Atchison, and Cooper Shoultz. Honorary pallbearers will be Masonic Lodge #226.
