Janie 'Sister' Beech

Janie "Sister" Cathryn Beech, 84, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Washington County Nursing Home with several loved ones by her side. "Sister" was born January 28, 1939 to Wister C. and Lomie Beech in Chatom. She held several occupations over the years including co-owning of Richardson's Restaurant in Chatom, working in the radiology department at Washington County Hospital and working as a dispatcher for Washington County Sherriff's Office. A devout Christian, "Sister" was a proud member of Chatom Church of God. She was a dutiful daughter who was devoted to her parents and cared for them dearly. "Sister" was a kind soul who enjoyed the simple things in life. She love University of Alabama Football and her new-found family at Washington County Nursing Home where she proudly served as President of the Resident Council.

"Sister" is survived by brother, Herman Nelson Beech (Becky); nieces and nephews, Donna Beasley (Terry), Chuck Beech (Mary), Bridget Sheffield, Ben Beech (Janet), Jenny Pitts (John), David Beech, Barry Beech (Marissa); sister-in-law, Sue Beech; her Washington County Nursing Home family as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jimmy Don Beech and Gerald Beech; and nephew, Craig Beech.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Chatom Church of God Cemetery with Bro. Bob Young officiating. Lathan Funeral Home directing.
