It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Walton "Runt" Keith, a beloved son, father, and friend, who departed this life on May 12, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on August 27, 1940, to his parents William A. and Lula Lane Keith. John dedicated his life to service and hard work, spending an impressive 42 years at Olin Chemical, where he was known for his unwavering commitment and work ethic.
Runt was a man of many passions; he found great joy in the thrill of Alabama football, cheering for his team with unparalleled enthusiasm. His love for the outdoors came alive in moments spent fishing and hunting, where the beauty of nature gave him peace and joy. His heart belonged to his family, and for 40 years, he was devoted to his beloved wife, Sandra, creating a legacy of love and companionship that will always be cherished.
Runt is survived by his loving wife Sandra Keith, son Brian (Sandy) Keith, granddaughter Crystal (Chris) Dungan and great grandchildren Jax and Canaan, who will carry forward his spirit and values in their lives. As we remember Runt, let us reflect on the values he embodied-dedication, love, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dale Keith, Leon Keith, Hiram Keith, and Tom Keith.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation an hour prior with Bro. Steve Foster officiating. Runt will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Methodist cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers will be Kendall Tate, Chris Tate, Fred Keith, Andy Keith, Tyler Keith, and Tommy Keith
In this time of grief, let us find solace in one another and in the legacy of kindness and joy that Runt has left behind. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and loved.
