John Nelson

John Albert Nelson, 67, of Jackson, passed away January 2, 2020 at his residence. He was born September 24, 1952 to Ellery Nelson and Lorena Rutledge Nelson of Thomasville. He was a supervisor with Power South in Leroy where he was employed for 43 years. His passion was photography and genealogy. He authored an unpublished work documenting all the burial sites in Clarke County.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathy Nelson; daughter, Kristi Stoker; granddaughter, Morgan Stoker and sister, Gaye (Richard) Goodwin.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
