Johnnie C. "Da" Brandenburg, 82, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born in Jackson on March 6, 1939 to Coleman Martin Brandenburg and Annie Matilda McKinley Brandenburg, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Jackson and retired after 42 years at Ciba Geigy. He had also operated the projector at Locke Theater in Jackson after high school. He was an avid fan of The University of Alabama football program, Chicago Cubs baseball and Miami Dolphins football and also enjoyed watching wrestling and using his computer.
He is survived by his wife of 60 Years, Betty Jean Weaver Brandenburg of Jackson; children, Anita (Robert) Dixon of Semmes, Sheila (Karl) Wright of Jackson, Micheal (Samantha) Brandenburg of Birmingham; grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Wright, Bobbie Dixon, Karla (Christopher) Clark, John Brandenburg, Brooke Brandenburg; great-grandchildren, Lexi Sims, Dakota Wright, and another on the way, Riley Kate Clark.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Brian Jemison officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Cemetery in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Brandenburg, Christopher Clark, Robert Dixon, Chris Wright, Dakota Wright and Karl Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobbie Dixon, Karla Wright Clark, Brooke Brandenburg and Lexi Sims.
