Joseph Bozeman

Joseph E. Bozeman, age 59, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Joseph, or Joey as he was affectionately known, was born April 14, 1964 to Burney Bozeman and Joan Etheredge Stamey. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Coffeeville. Joey was a huge fan of country music, especially George Jones and Conway Twitty. He enjoyed filling crossword puzzle books, hunting, fishing, and football; he was an avid University of Alabama fan and loved taking his daughters to watch his beloved Jackson Aggies football games. Joey was truly a great father, grandfather and godfather. Joey was a true character and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Joey is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sarah Bozeman; daughters, Brittany Bozeman and Kyleigh (Jeffrey) Brown; precious granddaughter, BaeLeigh Renee Brown; godchildren, Angela Reed and Christopher Reed; sister, Alice (Larry) Tolbert; brothers, Jay (Debbie) Bozeman, Ray Bozeman, and Kelly Wayne; step-brother, Billy (Candy) Stamey, Jr.; mother, Joan Stamey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Burney Bozeman and grandparents, Joseph Wilburn Etheredge Sr., Velma Ola Reeves Etheredge, Raymond Bozeman and Ethel Sullivan Bozeman.

Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Jimmie Butts officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in Union Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Brown, Chris Reed, Lane Brooks, Heath Brooks, Tyler Weaver, Terry Collins, Wayne Reed, Jamie Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, Jeremy Sullivan and Jason Ford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith McCary, Willie Motes, Keith Autry, Bobby Johnson and Rev. David Guy Sr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Grove Baptist Care Center.
