Joyce Elizabeth Hendrix Bolen, 85, of Jackson, passed away Friday, December 20.
Joyce was born in Valdosta, Georgia, to Willie and Ruby Hendrix on May 28, 1934. She married the love of her life, Leo, on December 16, 1950, in Quitman, Georgia. The couple moved to Jackson in 1953 where she worked as a seamstress for Vanity Fair. She was a dedicated and active member of Forest Avenue Baptist church for over 60 years. Following the passing of her husband in 2002, Joyce served as Sunday School Secretary and remained in that position until recent months. Her true joy was her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose loyalty, wit, and love were unmatched.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Franklin Hendrix and Ruby Mae Burdick Hendrix; husband, Leo Franklin Bolen; brothers, Burl and L.A.; sisters, Helen Conaway and Betty Jean O’Keefe; and son-in-law, Larry Larrimore.
Joyce is survived by her children, Sharon Larrimore of Satsuma, Molly (Johnny) Moseley of Jackson, and John (Terri) Bolen of Jackson; brother, Ralph Hendrix of Valdosta; grandchildren, Joanna (Andrew) Bailey of Stockton, Corey (Dana) Moseley of Davenport, Florida, Whitney Bolen of Birmingham, Elissa (Jacob) Brown of Jackson, and Anna Kate Bolen of Birmingham; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, and Lily Moseley, Jack Bailey, and Cooper Brown.
Visitation will be Monday, December 23 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Dustin Shelander will be officiating, and Lathan Funeral Home will be directing.
Pallbearers are Corey Moseley, Joshua Moseley, Caleb Moseley, Andrew Bailey, Jacob Brown, and David White.
Memorials may be given to Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
