Joyce Taylor

Joyce Nell Givens Taylor, 81, of Chatom, passed away July 29, 2018 at her residence. She was born June 29, 1937 to Alford Gordy Givens and Essie Smith Givens. She had been employed as a procurement officer with the U.S. government and was a member of Chatom First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Mearl Taylor and sister, Frances Beech.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Givens Taylor, James Mearl (Mary) Taylor and grandchildren, Sydney Taylor, Mason Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Chatom First Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Agee officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Chatom Town Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Eric Beech, David Ponder, Alex Odom, Benjamin Jones, Binion Jones and Shane Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Taylor and Jon Michael Davidson.
