It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judyth Perry Hurst, a beloved mother, cherished friend, and an extraordinary woman, who departed this life on October 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on January 29, 1951, Judyth spent her life in Jackson, AL, where she cultivated a beautiful home and touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
Judyth was a passionate gardener, finding joy in nurturing the vibrant blooms of her garden, and her love for nature was evident in the care she gave to both her plants and those around her. She was an avid wrestling fan, often cheering for her favorites with infectious enthusiasm, and her spirit truly shone during Alabama football games, where she celebrated every touchdown as if it were a personal victory. In her quiet moments, she found solace in puzzles, relishing the challenge and the satisfaction they brought.
Judyth is preceded in death by her parents, Sibley and Dovie Ree "Tiny" Perry; brothers, Sibley Winford Perry and James Weldon Perry; sister, Ida Emogen Perry.
Judyth is survived by sons, Lloyd "Cricket" (Monika) Rester and Tommy Ray Rester; daughter, Tonya Rester Deese; grandchildren, Kristin (David) Chapman, Kristoffer (LeeAnn) Merkel, Brionna (Hunter) Garland, Maeghan Powell, Shelby (Jenna) Deese, Sabrina Rester, Lacey Suslovich, Stephan Bradley, Erica Rester, Mileigh Rester, Grace Deese, Landyn Rester, and Lukas Rester; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Rachel Perry Wilson; brother, Joe Henry Perry; special family friends, Crystal Miller and Jessica Parnell.
Visitations will take place at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and an hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, October 10, 2025. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Glenn Sullivan officiating. Judyth will be laid to rest at DuBose Family Cemetery after the service.
Pallbearers will be Paul Perry, Kristoffer Merkel, David Chapman, Robert Slayter, Jr., Ronnie Turner, and Josey Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Perry Slayter, Sibley Perry, Jr., and Randy Sullivan.
