Katherine Brunson

Katherine Mae Brunson, 88, died at her home Sunday, December 25, 2022 with loved ones by her side. Katherine was born to Abel and Ruby Brunson on May 20, 1934 in Jackson where she later became a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Beyond her family and faith, nature and the outdoors were Katherine's greatest pleasure. Kat, as she was affectionately known by many, was known to 'save' plants from the forest and rehome them to her yard as well as snitching a piece or two from your yard for her own yard.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Louise Brunson, Earline Griffin, Hollis Brunson, Betty Willemoes, Lucille Johnson and Lamar Brunson; nieces and nephews Sheila Clark, Karen Mann, Peter Willemoes, Michael Johnson, David Johnson, Charles Johnson and Stacey Horton.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Dean Daniel, Jeanette Brunson and Lucretia Horton; nieces and nephews, Sandra MacDonald, Dr. Ronnie Griffin, Darryl Griffin, Harriette Brooks, Darleen Bondi, Randall Daniel, Terri Stimpson, Theresa Reynolds, Charlotte Holliand, Brenda Hayes, Greg Johnson, Stuart Horton, Eugene Brunson, Angela Bartlett and Mandy Hakam as well as a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially nurse Lee Tindle, are owed our special thanks along with her daily caregivers, Evette Williams, Nettie Hunt, Shirley Nash, Shirley Morris and Linda Robinson, who cared for her deeply.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson with Bro. Benny Harrison officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Peniel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or a charity of choice.
