It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen B. Ramey, a beloved mother, dedicated friend, and cherished member of the Leroy community. Kathleen was born on August 2, 1935, and departed this life on September 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Kathleen was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Leroy, where she found strength and joy in her faith and community. Her unwavering commitment to her family defined her existence; she was a strong-willed and independent spirit whose love for her family was unyielding and profound.
Throughout her life, Kathleen found joy in simple pleasures. Whether she was immersing herself in a good book, skillfully sewing, or embracing the demands of being a meticulous homemaker, her passions were evident. Her work ethic matched her determination, as she held positions at Delchamps, Moore's, Mobile College as a dorm mother, and Porter Flooring, continuing to contribute until she reached the age of 80.
Kathleen's strength of character, her devotion to family, and her independent spirit will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As we gather to honor her memory, we celebrate a well-lived life, one marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear.
Preceded in death by her parents Joe and Penny Beach.
She is survived by her children; Darlene (Cecil) Harper, LlaDonna (Ron) Smith, Joey (Becky) Ramey; grand children Heather (Matthew) Pardue, Nicki (Ashley) McKee, Chad (Amber) Harper, Hollye (Jason) Long, Christian Smith, Zeb Ramey, Phillip (Destiny) Ramey, Genna Ramey, 15 great grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Ernestine Gartman, Betty Jo Syphrit, and Danny Joe Beach; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
The funeral service will take place at the First Baptist Church of Leroy on September 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a public visitation one hour before the service at 10:00 AM. Following the funeral, she will be laid to rest at Leroy Baptist Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Christian Smith, Chad Harper, Zeb Ramey, Phillip Ramey, Cole McKee, and Trey McKee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathleen's memory to the First Baptist Church of Leroy Building Fund, P.O. Box 5, Leroy, AL 36548.
In her memory, let us remember Kathleen B. Ramey not just for her earthly achievements, but for the profound love and care she instilled in all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. She will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire us to love deeply and live passionately.
