Kathryn Gilchrist

Willie Kathryn “Patty” Goodwin Gilchrist, 79, of Grove Hill, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Thomasville Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born June 5, 1940 to T.J. and Elsie Kelley Goodwin. An active member of Union Baptist Church in Grove Hill, she had taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cullen Miller Gilchrist and sister, Doris Bateman.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Marshall, Tony Gilchrist, Stan (Stacey) Gilchrist; grandchildren, Ricky (Angelea) Gilchrist, Sammy Phillips, Justin (Margaret Ann) Gilchrist, Taylor Gilchrist; great-grandchildren, Austin Gilchrist, Scarlet Rissler, Mary Britton Gilchrist; brother, Reggie (Dixie) Goodwin and numerous other relatives and friends.

A private graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Lonnie Byrd and Jonathan Hudson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Gilchrist, Sammy Phillips, Justin Gilchrist, Austin Gilchrist, Steve Carpenter and Maurice Paul.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in her memory to Union Baptist Church.
