Lloyd Orso, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 9, 2025. Lloyd was born May 30, 1933. He retired from International Paper after more than 40 years of employment. Lloyd was a member of the Satsuma Fire Department for 30 years and brought that dedication to community service with him when he moved to Coffeeville and founded the West Bend-Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. He was honored to serve as Fire Chief for eight years before retiring from the department. Lloyd was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served his Lord with humility and compassion.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Huckabee; mother, Frances V. Orso; nephew, Phillip Huckabee; niece, Sharon Huckabee Smith; grandson, Tony Evans; guardians, Aaron "Red" & Lydia Odom; and parents-in-law, Floyd & Mary "Girlie" Counselman.
He is survived by his beloved wife Aberdeen Counselman Orso; children, Karen (Mark) Davis and Terry (Shirley) Orso; grandchildren, Brandon (Valerie) Orso, Heather Hicks, Jonathan (Lindsey) Orso, Nick (Shea) Lowe, Catherine (Phillip) Bradley, Robert (Nicki) Davis, and Greg Evans; great grandchildren, Addison and Ellie Orso, Colby Malott, Matthew and Mary Ella Hicks, Savannah Orso, Zoe (Matt) Sullivan, Chance Andrews, Ellis Bradley, Christopher Davis, Landon Clarke, McKenzie Davis, Abigail and Anna Beth Evans; dedicated family friend, Codi Vick; and caregiver, Nikki Gaines.
Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at West Bend Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 12:00 noon with Rev. Butch Starks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Orso, Jonathan Orso, Nick Lowe, Robert Davis, Matthew Hicks, and Hawood Hicks.
