Lois Batley

Lois Ellen Batley, a beloved mother and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 1, 1929, in Alabama, Lois lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Lois will be profoundly missed by her children, Theresa Dolbear, Elaine Bumpers, Linda Batley, Marilyn Bedwell, and William Batley, Jr., who carry forward their mother's spirit. Throughout her life, Lois had a passion for cooking and a green thumb that transformed her garden into a vibrant tapestry of flowers, which she lovingly tended to in her free time. Being a direct and opinionated person, you always knew how Lois felt about things and usually knew where you stood with her. She found immense joy in spending time with family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Lois was preceded in death by beloved husband of 66 years, William Batley, Sr.; her parents, Woodie and Caroline Smith; grandchildren, Derick Louis Bumpers and Christina Marie Batley.

Services will be held Monday, July 21, 2025 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Tommy Gaillard, officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Chastain Hill, where Lois will be laid to rest in peace.

Pallbearers are Mathew Coates Dolbear, Jacob Ready, Aaron Guy, Wayne Travis, James Chivers, and Stephen Bumpers. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters and great granddaughters.
