Luke Lavern Dorman

April 28, 2003 — February 11, 2026

Luke Lavern Dorman, 22, of Tibbie, Alabama, left his earthly home on February 11, 2026. He was born on April 28, 2003, to parents Samantha Martin and Richard Dorman. Luke grew up in Seaboard and graduated from Washington County High School, Class of 2021, where he played baseball, graduated with honors, and participated in FFA competitions. His abilities helped WCHS earn many local and state awards.

After high school, Luke graduated from Coastal Alabama Community College and was set to graduate from the University of South Alabama in May 2026 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Luke had a deep love for learning and a remarkable ability to grasp and retain knowledge. He was currently working as an Electrical Maintenance Technician at SSAB, where he had also served as a co-op for the three years prior. He thoroughly enjoyed his work family.

Most days, Luke and Melissa could be found at the river or enjoying the outdoors, always accompanied by his loyal dogs, Kate and Miller. He enjoyed spending time with friends, hosting cookouts, and playing cornhole. He was an avid duck hunter. Luke had a natural talent for the technical side of two of the most challenging sports-baseball and golf-both of which he seemed to master.

Luke was a member of Tibbie Baptist Church, where he enjoyed Sunday School and the lessons he learned about his Lord and Savior. He loved his church family and was a true friend to all. Luke loved people, he loved his family, and he lived each day as an example of loving others unselfishly.

Luke is preceded in death by his girlfriend, Melissa Laton; grandfather, Fred Lavern Dorman; great-grandparents, Betty Ruth and John Homer "Runt" McDowell.

He is survived by his mother, Samantha Martin; his father, Richard (Joy) Dorman; brother, Jacob Dorman; and sister, Emily Martin; grandparents, Beverly Dorman and Crissy (Frank) Land, also Donald 'D-doc' (Tonya) Hartley, aunts and uncles, Cathy (Ronnie) Walker, Ashley (Eric) Woodyard, Shannon E. (Scott) West, and Shelley (Ashley) Spann, also Holly (John) Blunt; his loyal companions, Kate and Miller, who never left his side; as well as many extended family members and loving friends.
