Lynda Chastain, 82, of Jackson AL, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 30, 1941, to her parents Jesse L. Bolen and Pauline Grasham Bolen.
During her younger years, she lived in Jackson, Alabama, Gorman Texas, Brownwood, Texas and Dothan, Alabama. After nineth grade, she remained in Jackson and graduated from high school in 1959. She married Jerry L. Chastain, Sr. in June of 1960, and graduated from Auburn University in 1963 with a degree in Secondary Education. After graduation, she and Jerry bought a flower shop and successfully ran it for 10 years. After selling the business, she taught high school English and history for 20 years. Lynda was an accomplished China painter and teacher with several pictures of her work published in magazines. Her other passions were spending time with her family, hunting and fishing, and watching Auburn football and basketball. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson for 65 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Harrison Bolen and Jesse Stewart Bolen.
She is survived by her son Jerry L. (Roxanne) Chastain, granddaughter Erin Charisse Chastain, grandson Cameron Messinger, and great grandchildren Milan Corbit and Ross Messinger.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Jackson.
