Madge Becton

Madge Alyne Taylor Becton, 93, of Grove Hill, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at University Health Hospital (USA) in Mobile. She was born in Dunn, TX on March 8, 1927 to Granderson Reeves Taylor and Ruby Madge Groves Taylor. She had been employed as a registered nurse and was an active member of Grove Hill Baptist Church where she was the long-time church clerk, taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, crochet, Atlanta Braves baseball, Auburn University football and baseball and Grove Hill Academy/Clarke Prep baseball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Becton and siblings, Tillman Taylor, W.H. Taylor, Kewpie Duncan, Curtis Taylor and Ned Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Dana Becton, Harla (Ray) Barnes, Jadda Becton; grandchildren, Tony (Julie) Brunson, Robyn (Ray) Norris, Daley Becton, Brendan (Jessica) Becton, Taylor Becton, Celina Becton, Darren (Tracie) Barnes, Tony (Dawn) Barnes; great-grandchildren, Marlye (Peyton) Lott, Abbye Brunson, Mimi Blaylock, Molli Blaylock, Trace Strickland, Grand Strickland, John Becton Duncan, Whit Becton, Preston Becton, Raegan Becton, Bradyn Becton, Analeigh Barnes, Dylan Barnes, Cade Barnes, John Braxton Barnes, Emma Barnes; sister, Laura Ernestine Uhlmeyer, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grove Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Routzahn officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the church. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Blaylock, Chad Bradford, Donal Dunagan, Billy Hamilton, Chip Harrigan, Craig Hoven, Lane Hoven and Bobby Keahey.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Grove Hill Baptist Church Adult III Sunday School department, Bill Hamilton, Leon Powell, J.W. Reeves, Coach Darryl Hobson, and Nancy Wiggins.

The services will be broadcast via Facebook Live by Grove Hill Baptist Church on their Facebook page for those unable to attend.
