Virginia Carpenter

Mary Virginia Adams Carpenter, 96, of Millry, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the Washington County Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born on October 11, 1929, to parents Maxie and Sarah Doggett Adams. Virginia work at Millry Manufacturing as a seamstress, her world revolved around her husband and family. She was a member of Millry Baptist Church, where she participated in many callings, she referred to her church family as her second family. She loved to cook and take care of her family and grand's.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Herman B. Carpenter, parents, daughter Donna C. Stewart, sister Sarah A. Gibson.

Survived by her son Lamar (Renae) Carpenter, grandchildren Matthew (Kimberly) Carpenter, Kyle (Kimberly) Carpenter, Chelsey Smith, step-grandson Devin Harison, great-grandchildren Kayden Carpenter, John Carpenter, Liam Carpenter, Jaxon Smith, brother Frank Adams, sister Ann Strickland, and many other extended family members and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Carpenter, Kyle Carpenter, Devin Harison, Kayden Carpenter, Michael Adams, and Greg Goldman.

Funeral Services will be at 11 am on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Millry Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to the services. Bro. Randy Billingsley officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
