Mary Phillips

Mary Helen Phillips, 100, of Laton Hill, passed away on November 28, 2023, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on March 16, 1923, at home in Laton Hill, Alabama to parents Tommy (T.J.) Jefferson and Bama Lee Williams. Mary Helen was a member of Laton Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the younger children. She was a natural host to family and friends she was always caring for others in her community. She loved cooking and she was a very good seamstress and loved embroidery, tending to her chickens, and of course her family.

Preceded in death by her husband Joe. W. Phillips, son Rundy Phillips, daughter Saundra Phillips Overstreet, son-in-law Albert Earl Williams.

Survived by her children; Joe (Linda) Phillips, Jackie (Tib) Parnell, Carolyn Williams, Linda (Kennith) Godwin, sister Tommie Nell Miller, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family, and loving friends.

Graveside services will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Laton Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Millry with Bro. Tib Parnell and Bro. Larry Darden officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
