On August 14, 2026, Matthew Blake Hartley, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 39, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born on February 13, 1987, Blake was a dedicated pipe fitter and an even more devoted family man. He made his home in Grove Hill, where he cherished every moment with his wife, Nicole Ferrell Hartley, and referred to their little crew as "my little family."

Blake had a heart as big as his personality. He had a knack for making people laugh with his quick wit and clever nicknames for those he held dear. Whether he was playing XBOX with his brothers or taking his son out for archery practice-even in the sweltering summer heat-Blake was always in his element, creating memories and sharing fun times. A self-taught mechanic, he could often be found tinkering with cars, relishing every opportunity to lend a hand to those in need. If you ever needed help with anything, Blake was usually the first one in line, ready to give you the shirt off his back.

Blake was one of those rare souls who never met a stranger; he had a special gift for connecting with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave with a new friend. His spirit touched everyone who crossed his path, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Blake is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Adelle & Mack White and his niece, Isabella Rose Greer.

He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 20 years, Nicole Ferrell Hartley; his cherished children, Gabby Hartley (Nicklaus Cargile), Lizzy Hartley, and Blake Hartley, Jr.; mother, Renita Parnell (Woodie); siblings, Cody Greer and Daniel Greer; grandparents, Juaniece Hamilton, Steve Hartley Sr. and Lonnie Moore (Jessie); uncles, Christopher Moore, Josey Moore (Tonya) and Lonnie Moore Jr.; aunt, Gwen Pipkin (James); nephew, Braylon Lee Greer; as well as numerous other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services for Blake will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share stories, laughter, and love just as he would have wanted. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Chip Oakley and Travis Matthews officiating. Everyone who knew Blake is encouraged to join in honoring his memory.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Cox, Cody Greer, Daniel Greer, Christopher Overton, Landon Andrews, and Cordell Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ferrell, Woodie Parnell, James Pipkin, Josey Moore, Lonnie Moore Jr., and David Price.
